7 Portraits of a Nashville Rocker Losing His Beard
When we decided to profile BBA alumna Amy (Elson) Tanksley and her Nashville business, Uncle Classic Barbershop, in the fall 2012 issue of the McCombs alumni magazine, we dispatched photographer Hollis Bennett to capture her shop.
In order to show off Uncle Classic's services, Bennett convinced local drummer and rugby player Zack "Butters" Murphy to shave his beard for a series of portraits. As you can see in the photos below, this was no mere five-o'clock shadow, but a 14-month work-in-progress, so we're grateful to Murphy for parting ways with his bristles.
We didn't have room for all seven photos in the magazine but couldn't let them go to waste. So here they are, in what has to be the most unexpected time-lapse photo series you'll find on any business school website. Click the image to enlarge.
