A current Deloitte practicioner worked as a mentor for the McCombs team, and coached them in the weeks leading up to the competition.

Once there, Shah says, they enjoyed mingling and playing games with the other schools. Shah says his team was able to take second place thanks to strong financials and HR strategy, as well as good interactions with the judges.

"We chose to participate because we wanted to represent UT and McCombs at a national level," he says. "McCombs does a great job of introducing its students to case studies and teaching us critical thinking skills to help attack these problems."
