A group of MSTC (Master of Science in Technology Commercialization) students traveled to Manitoba, Canada at the end of March and took first place at the Stu Clark Investment Competition, hosted by the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba.

The team, Athena Laboratories, represented McCombs and won $20,000 and a chance to compete on their home turf in McCombs' Global Venture Labs Investment Competition in May. Athena is composed of Albert Alvarez, Wendy Wu, Ravine Woods, Wayne Whitmire, Alex Garcia and Wendell Johnson, and was one of four finalists in the Texas Venture Labs Investment Competition in February.

Athena Laboratories is a medical device company that provides patented laser technology for physicians to treat cellulite in a minimally invasive manner.
