Ph.D. Student Towery Earns $25,000 Deloitte Fellowship in Accounting

Accounting doctoral student Erin Towery was one of 10 recipients across the country to earn a $25,000 Deloitte Fellowship in Accounting from the Deloitte Foundation, a non-profit arm of Deloitte LLP. Top students from nearly 100 universities apply for the fellowships annually.

"Erin’s work ethic exceeds any doctoral student I have seen in 15 years," said Professor of Accounting Lillian Mills, who is also Towery's graduate adviser and research partner. "I hope she will remain my co-author for many years, because she stretches my imagination and capabilities."

Towery earned her MPA from McCombs in 2005 and previously was an associate with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and Huron Consulting Group. Towery's research area is taxation, and she is also a research assistant for the Internal Revenue Service. She is the student leader of the Texas Tax Reading Group and teaches programming and data management to incoming doctoral students.
