UT Students Say Thanks

On November 10, more than 2,300 UT students gathered for the university's inaugural Thanks Day. Students wrote individual notes of appreciation and joined in signing a seven-foot thank you card, expressing their gratitude to the state, alumni and friends who provide financial support to the university.

The November 10 date was itself symbolic. The event marked the day that classes would end for the year if tuition and fees alone subsidized a UT degree. Tuition and fees comprise only 24 percent of the university's overall budget.

Thanks to state funding, donor support and other sources of funding, university students will continue their studies through finals, spring semester and another May commencement.
