Titman on NPR: Spill’s Effect on Deep-Water Oil Investment
From the Energy Management & Innovation Center
NPR explored how the Deepwater Horizon spill could affect the oil industry as a whole Monday morning during a morning news segment that included Professor of Finance Sheridan Titman.
Titman explained that the investment effects of the spill would not equal for each oil company; for example, of Brazil-based Petrobras, which has big investments in deep-water oil, he said, “I would expect people would be a little bit nervous about what they are doing in Brazil and Petrobras’s stock price dropped quite a bit.”–down 17% as of Friday, despite the company setting month oil production records in April.
