Tiju Tom, MBA '09: Legacy Campaign is "Paying it Forward" to Future Students

Tiju TomApril is Student Philanthropy Month at McCombs, and we've asked a few students to share their thoughts on why they're investing their hard-earned money in programs for future students. Below, we hear from MBA student Tiju Tom, member of the MBA Legacy campaign committee.

It is not very often that we are presented with a real life opportunity to leave a legacy. The MBA Legacy campaign is just that – a chance to leave a unique lasting impression on the school that has given us so much over the last two years. Soon we will be making our way back into the real world, and paying it forward as alumni is a great way to stay connected to and influence the McCombs community. I view this campaign as the perfect way to continue contributing to the community that I will be vested in for the rest of my life.

Our goal this year is to reach a hitherto unachieved 100% participation from the class. We take great pride in the bonds of friendship and community across our class, and now is the time to give back to the school and show our support to future incoming students too. This year we as a class have chosen to use our Legacy campaign funds to renovate the Carpenter lounge in order to make it more student-friendly.  Improving the school facilities will not only enhance the overall business school experience for the incoming classes, it will also be a great marketing tool to attract the very best candidates to our alma mater.
